The ancient Egyptians used sesame and its oil in cooking, beauty and religious ceremonies; It is also referred to in Indian culture as a “symbol of immortality” and uses sesame oil in their prayers, worship, and rituals associated with the dead.

The passage of time has not affected the popularity and properties of this grain because today with the emergence and production of sesame products, the amount of sesame production in the world has increased and its largest producers are Myanmar, China, India, Tanzania, Sudan and Japan.

This oil has therapeutic uses in complementary medicine and is also used for things such as massage. It should be noted that using this oil is not suitable for frying because it has low resistance to heat.

Although this type of oil is mostly edible, it is used as a solvent in intramuscular injection solutions in the pharmaceutical industry and its external use is on various organs of the body. Sesame oil is also used as an antidote to toxins. It is also used in the treatment of burn spots on the body.

Sesame oil has a high percentage of unsaturated fatty acids and can help control blood pressure. Sesame oil contains magnesium and also contains an anti-cancer compound known as phytate; The use of these compounds reduces the risk of colon cancer and even prevents its occurrence. The use of sesame oil in the diet helps to produce serotonin, which in turn helps to feel positive and maintain chronic stress. This oil is known as the most popular oil in Asia and also one of the main oil products.

Sesame oil is produced in two forms: roasted sesame oil and ordinary sesame oil; Roasted sesame oil is made from roasted sesame seeds and is darker in color and is used to add nutty and smoky flavors to foods. Ordinary sesame oil is also produced using non-roasted sesame seeds. Both of these oils should be stored in the refrigerator to prevent them from spoiling.
